What sat are you planning on using it for?

I have only just started looking at this and as I do not have a clue about what is available and what I can get, thought this is a starting point....

Are you wanting just free channels?

Will the dish be fixed/monoblock or motorised?

At the moment I have Sky satellite dish and use it with an HD box, but want to build a Mediacentre PC.
Would also like something that I can stick my Sky card into - if possible?
I assume that a motorised dish would be the better choice.

One thing to remember is 7 handles DVB-S different to Vista Media Center

If you can receive freeview, it might be worth playing around with a £15 DVB-T tuner first.

Freeview is sort of hit and miss around here... will just have to experiment and see, but that is a very good idea, not much to invest at all.
