i neeed a firewall that blocks programs from connecting to the net. i has kis,
i know that pctools firewall does but it too slow

Hello Kiddieboy.

Comodo Firewall in the Comodo Internet Security package is a good one to use. If you already have a antivirus program installed, then be sure to uncheck the one included with Comodo so it will not install.

i know. but it a hassle. i want one that will let me choose whether the applction can go online or not. just say i want to block a game from patching. i just turn off permission for that application to go online. i knowpc tool can but it a hassle. kaspersky is abetter and i also bought a licese and dont want it to go to waste

Comodo will ask you this for everything that tries to connect to the internet, and will remember so you do not have to answer for that program again. You can also manually add or block items as well. I would recommend that you disable the Defense Plus feature if you do not want to be asked about every file that tries to run though.

It's up to you though.

Yes KiddieBoy12, I concur with Shawn. Comodo Internet Security with just the Firewall installed is a little ripper, best PFW in my humble opinion.

And yes, Comodo will ask you everything but your marital status, star sign and religion!!!

One little tip I would recommend, however, in the event you have, or intend to do a clean install of Vista, leave the default Firewall enabled until you have downloaded and installed ALL of the Microsoft Windows Updates upto and including Service Pack 1 to avoid any potential update issues and it will also avoid Comodo's "Proactive Defense" stating that you have how ever many thousand files waiting for you to review.

Most firewalls have the feature to block all internet traffic completly or specific programs, protocols or packets. Including windows firewall. (start > "firewall" press enter)

NOD32 Security Suite is what i use, and i'm happy with it. Although you have to pay for it. (unless you use another way that cannot be said here) It's not the simplest firewall to use so if your not completly fimiliar with thses programs you may want to use somesthing else. (comodo like said above).
