My Laptop freezes every time it's switched on. I think there might be a problem with the firewall. The window live one care firewall is off but there is another firewall running. I am forced to turn my laptop off from the main switch every time it freezes and then when I turn it on again it asks whether I want to start windows normally or via safe mode  Also it says something about scanning disks- I'm guessing internal ones but I have no idea what to do as every thing freezes and I cannot even connect to the internet or turn the laptop off properly. Help pleeeeeeaasssse.

2GB is not much memory for Vista (Vista uses approx. 1GB just to run Windows itself, that leaves approx 500MB or less for programs as peripherals and the GPU may be addressing some of that ram).

Check your msconfig startup and see whats running, and also check your Performance under Task Manager settings to check physical memory usage. Low memory can cause "slide-show" like effects. Also try a full defrag through CMD "run as admin" (defrag c: -w)- as fragmentation can cause issues like "non-responsive" programs.

If windows or programs are crashing this can also be caused by file/Windows corruption usually as a result of Malware/Registry Cleaners (on top of file fragmentation and insufficient RAM).
