Firefox problem

I was reading the yahoo news when I got an "the connection to the server was reset" error. The page still displays fine but it just shows the error but I don't know why. I've tried re-installing firefox but that didn't help.

My Anti-virus is NOD32.
My Anti-spyware is spybot.

I'm using firefox 3.03
I'm using Comcast

can you please tell if you can see the page completely or not or do you get an error message on a specific place on the web page.

The page displays normally. The error pops up right when I enter the page, but it only happens on a few sites.

try installing your internet software and drivers again, see if this help's...

try the same task's (e.g. read news) through windows internet explorer

if this works with internet explorer, have a look and see which add-ons you currently have on firefox, it may be the case you have a bad add-on.. however, these are just possibilities and if you have paid a subscription for any software or add-on, you may want to check with the manufacturer to see if u can re-download..

hope i can help somewhat

Is it only certain pages, and every single time on those pages?

What is the exact URL of the page you're viewing? I want to run a test on my system.

Is this a pop-up error that you have to click OK on, or is it an advertisement somewhere on the page?

If it's an advertisement that's not loading, you have nothing to worry about.

Okay - that page loaded with no errors.

Suggestion:
Clear private data.
Close all browser windows/tabs.
Let Vista be idle for one minute.
Open Firefox and go to that news page.

If you still get the error, click out of it and look for the item that didn't load (see if there are any symbols that indicate a picture or video file that's missing, etc).

On that link you posted, does it happen on all of the tabs across the top? (Home, U.S., Business, World, etc)

It does it to most of the tabs, I don't get the error on tabs: sports, tech, politics, elections, science, health, and most popular. Kind of odd.

More than likely what's happening isn't at your end. It's at one of the servers that the pages are loading from or one of the nodes along the way.

When did this problem start? Did this happen with previous versions of Firefox? Did you install/update anything the day that it began?

I don't believe I installed anything that day. I don't think this happened to me in any earlier versions of firefox. This started happening a few weeks ago.

I don't get this problem in internet explorer.

I also get the problem at the explosm comics.

IE isn't the greatest benchmark to compare against. I've found that Firefox works better on 99.9% of the web sites I visit, and is more verbose when errors do occur. Sometimes, IE won't tell you that an error is happening at all.

Another suggestion:
Uninstall Firefox.
Reboot.
Verify that Firefox is gone by deleting all folders the uninstall may have left behind.
Install Firefox 3.0.2 from ftp.osuosl.org :: Oregon State University Open Source Lab and test for the errors.

you should also clear all browser cookies and cache, aswell as private data.

you could also try resetting the firefix browser settings back to default

if this doesnt work, it may be worth reinstalling firefox with administrator privilages.

hope it helps......
