New to these forums so excuse my ignorance.
Have recently acquired a Windows Vista Business 64bit system for editing video, using Adobe CS4. Am having problems copying some of my Assets files containing pre-edited titles, video clips, music etc across from one of my removable drives onto one of the system drives, ready to start work. On my XP systems this would take about 10-15 mins to do a straight copy.
Some of the files have copied OK, but every so often the system just seems to stop and sit there, not doing anything with the time indicator not progressing. Eventually, when I get fed up waiting and try to cancel or shut down by going to task manager, everything just locks up. I can eventually get to a point where the 'Logging off' message comes up, but it then just sits there doing nothing again for ever. I eventually just have to switch the power off and wait a while before re-starting. I am getting extremely annoyed. The really frustrating part is that, unlike XP, the system does not indicate which file it has stuck at when the problem occurs, so you cannot work out which files to bypass and copy the other files.
The added complication is that I cannot run the latest Vista update, because it is not yet compatible with my Matrox RTX2 edit system drivers, and the system is not connected to the web, as this is not advised for edit systems.
I am hoping that someone has found a solution to this problem, as I am sure I am not alone.
