Solved File icons

Hello, I have changed some file icons by forgetting to uncheck the box "use this programme to open all files of this type"
Is there a file in vista where i can view the icons associated with all my file types.
I have heard it is imageres.something, but I cannot open the file.

No worries. You can download and merge the .reg file for the listed file types in the tutorial below that you changed the default association of to restore their default associations and icons.

Thanks Shawn, that restored the file.
It would be good if the box "always use this programme to open files of this type" in open file with, could always be unchecked by default, so people don't accidentally associate files with other programmes, unless they wan't to and then they could check the box.
But as it is the box is always checked by default.

Do you know if this could this be done?

Good fix Shaun, so are the reg. fixes in "Default File Type Associations - Restore"

I wonder if .manifest and .sqlite could be added to that list?

I added manifest to the list, but there's not a default for sqlite.

Thanks Shawn, the first part in CLASSES_ROOT didn't show in the registry, although the TMP file was restored to what appeared normal.

Jack,

The original .reg file in the tutorial for .tmp files is the correct one to use to unassociate .tmp files. By default, .tmp is not listed in the registry, so that's why the .reg file removes all entries.
