Has anyone got a fool-proof answer to this problem?
My dell pc has failed to automatically update with Service Package 1. I have cleaned up the registry using CCleaner, manually downloaded the 400+KB 32 bit version, gone in to safe mode, and tried to install is as system administrator. It gets 3/4 way through and then I get 'error code 0x80070002, go to go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139' which is an out of date link.
Reason I'm trying to download it is because I have so many problems with Vista and hoping it might solve a few...
I have read a number of posts on this (most are quite old now), and tried much of what has been suggested but still no joy.
Would be grateful for some help on this.
