Is there any way to fix this thank you again.

You have a corupt file or driver somewhere.

You can spend several days trouble shooting and "trying" to fix it.

Or you can spend several "hours" reformating and reinstalling your programs.

Its not a matter of if it can be fixed, its the most economical way it can be fixed.

Its mid week. You want to dig and screw around, cuss, yell at the kids, till this time next week?

Format.

If you don't backup regularly, and you have files that you positivily can't lose.

You risk everything.

We are all broke. THe republicans made sure of that. But blank CDs are cheap enough.

Get em, do your backup and fix your problem. If you arent going to take advice, asking for it is useless.

You don't even really need to backup with Vista if you want a quick re-install. I've installed Vista straight over a Vista installation before, purely because I really couldn't be bothered to wait for my hard drives to format, and it didn't replace the old files - it shoved the whole previous installation into a folder called Windows.old, and then installed the new files on to C Drive. You can then go in to this Windows.old and get all your old files from it, then once you have everything, just delete it to free up all that space.

Everlong judgeing by your post you've never installed Vista.

Formating a drive takes less then 30 seconds. Hes already got Vista installed not XP.

With the update disk I had, I could only update it through installing XP, so when I got hold of the retail disk, I didn't really have an idea of how long it took to format with Vista, so 30 seconds isn't bad, I'll bear that in mind.

Though the point of the post wasn't the format time, it was more to do with the point of installing it over Vista to keep files...
