You do not provide a lot of info re your system & hardware. That said it could be one of these two things...your anti-virus software or there's a problem with your ram. Are you doing any over-clocking ? Is your memory the exact same maker/specs if you have more than one ram stick installed ? Try re-seating your ram. Try running the pgm with your anti-virus software off line. Sometimes , if it is indeed causing a problem , your anti-virus software may need to be uninstalled completely before installing the pgm that's giving you problems. Also you may need to simply uninstall your game , re start your p/c & reinstall your pgm to get it to run properly.

pgm is an acronym of sorts for Program.

However, all you have answered is that you do not run an AV and that you have new RAM - and just because it is new doesn't help any, it can still be bad.

We need more information:

What are you system specs (see my signature line for what system specs look like)?
Which NFS are you installing? There are only 12 of them....
Have you used the disc on another computer to verify your disc is not scratched or otherwise bad?

Just as a base of reference, I have NFS:MW Black Edition working perfectly fine in Vista Ultimate x64 w/ SP1.

No doubt a bad/scratched disc could cause problems. What about the o/c ? More info really would help.

Have you tried the easiest , sometimes most effective , fix which is to uninstall your pgm/game & then reinstall ?

Also , as noted , make SURE you have latest update/patch for your pgm.

NFS is short for Need for Speed. Have you tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it?

What do you mean copy it? Do you legally own the game? Did you install the game properly without any modifications?

marshal, Do you have Aero or Dreamscene running in Vista? Aero is the cool window effects that makes the edges of your windows transparent and other neat effects. Dreamscene is a desktop background that uses a video instead of a picture.

everyone else, look at his specs. Don't you think it could just be a lack of system requirements? Remember he's using his onboard graphics from an older motherboard AND he's running Vista Ultimate. Here's the info for his mobo: SIMM-INT 865GV

NO.. due to i don not put graphic card on this system i canot use Aero n Dreamscene , there r requirment for that ..

n yes the game Need for Speed ( NFS ) it reqire only 64bit of graphic card that a motherboard have ,

It was working fine , the graphics was very good all was good in ma old vista ..

N i do not install the graphic driver coz i don't find the drivers for my motherboard : Any suggestions ??

My Computer

If you don't have graphics drivers installed, then yeah it'll crash to the desktop. But as for the memory error, well, that beats me. I'd find the drivers for the onboard video and see what happens from there.

no it dosnot need any graphic card ..

I am tellin you Mr. Chris that i used to play it on the same pc .. but when i formatted the vista all change .. not only this one .. but all games like harry potter n all r crashing ..

My Computer

And i'm telling you Mr.marshal that if you don't have graphics drivers installed, either for onboard or not, your games wont run and they'll just crash back to the desktop.

As for the drivers, I'm looking but I make no promises. Don't you have a disk that came with the computer. Any drivers is better than no drivers.

ok well assuming you have the 865 gv and not the 864 gv micro , then you can go to this link. Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd . Click on intel then intel again and pick your board. You might have to allow pop-ups for this, as i did, but there is a problem. When I clicked on the download vga and even the audo drivers, I get an error page like they're offline. Maybe they're updating them or something but you may have to email the company. But if you have the cd that came with it, install those drivers and give it a test.
