Error 505:29- please please help me

Hi

I would be so grateful of any help. My son's Sony Vaio notebook keeps crashing.

Initially it just shut down and would not boot up. I contacted Sony only to be told to do a complete system restore. The Tec guy talked me through it as the back up discs did not work. After about 3-hours system restore froze at 73% and threw up an error 505:29 - "task failed error". I clicked on ok and the laptop proceeded to boot up. It worked for a short while but then crashed again.

I went through the whole system restore once more. Again it thew up the same error at 67%.

I do not know what else to do. I have tried to phone the helpline but they only open normal daytime business hours (when I will be at work myself).

I went on a Sony website which suggested uninstalling the programme causing the problem....which wasn't much help at all - how the hell can I do this? I have limited knowledge.

Please can someone help me.

hi all

i have the same problem with my desk top viao ,(basically a lap top) i have been told it was a ram issue, replaced and it seemed to fix the problem for a short time but is now crashing again, it did not fix the reboot problem. the only way it will re boot is if its turned off via the mains for at at least 10 min. then fires up no problem.

if any 1 has a souloution to this problem i will gladly pay if it works!!!
