hi,

it is been a while since i posted no problems for me

knock wood(using my head to knock). my wife has a dell laptop inspiron 1720

and 2 days ago came home from school. and the computer had a message

install microsoft office installion disk to run ...

when i rebooted the screen it went into black dos mode
and stated this

file

\boot\bcd


error 0xc000000f

hit enter to continue


but every time i did that the screen came back up to the same thing


when i did a repair it did nothing

when i did restore to a previous point i lost files,favs,apps, pics

any idea why any thoughts please advise

Hi,

If it happens again, try this.

Boot to System Recovery Options ( http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/139940-tutorial-index-post738335.html#post738335 ), select Command Prompt, type the following (assuming C is the default drive )

C:

cd boot

dir

( if the BCD file is missing, type the following command)

Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Press Enter after each command, of course.
