Epson DX8400 Driver help please...

Hi, I've had one of these units for a few months, up until very recently, it had run fine. I had to pinch the USB and power cables off it to work on a mate's machine and when I reconnected it threw a couple of problems with the scanner so I unistalled and attempted to reinstall the web drivers but now it claims it can't find a valid driver for the system, I've tried the automatic installation, unpacking and manual installation, if I choose the DX7400 installation it will go ahead but then not be able to access the machine, understandably, the only difference I can see is the DX8400 ones aren't digitally signed but that's never caused a problem before. I've spoken to Epson and they are convinced it's a Vista issue, I think there were updates downloaded in between disconnecting and reconnecting could that have made a change? It will read from the card slot and does run independantly as a copier etc.

I'm desperate to get it sorted as I use it for work a lot.

TIA for any help

Did you mean CX7400 and/or CX 8400?? Nowhere do I see any DX, but I also see RX, no DX.

I don't think so....

I think there were updates downloaded in between disconnecting and reconnecting could that have made a change?

Personally, I don't attach any hardware while Vista is attempting to install new updates.

System :

Vista Home Premium x64

Printing 32&64bit driver links I found assuming this model is a CX, not DX.

Scanning 32&64bit driver links...

and welcome to the forums:)

I hope I can help you further if my help or another member of this site can help you.

Right the CX series is US so I assume Canada too, the DX series is EU, I have tried the equivelent CX drivers but again no go, it claims to install all the way through but then the Epson print monitor has a message along the lines of it's there, but I can't use it. The hardware was attached after the updates, what I was trying to explain was that my system went through a number of updates while the DX was unplugged, then when it was finished I attached it.
