Enter Key not working in Vista

Dear Members,

I'm running Vista - Home Premium(SP2) on a thinkpad X200s.

I installed Microsoft Security essentials(MES) yesterday.Although everything was working well for sometime, the "Enter" key suddenly stopped working. I've tried un-installing MES, but still can't get the Enter key to work. Actually, i'm not even sure if its a H/w or S/w problem.

I'm hoping someone would have come across a similar issue in the past and can offer me some suggestions.

Could just be a worn out key. Things do break. But just to make sure it isn't a driver, lets check. Go into device manager [start search > device > choose device manager > accept UAC prompt > click the + on keyboards, make sure all of the listings say 'This device is working properly'

If everything checks out there, try plugging in a USB keyboard and see if it works.

You could try this also it might have got screwed up in the registry.
