emails sent in english are changing to Chinese

My email changes to Chinese. The emails are in English when I send them and show up as English in my sent folder. I checked my unicode setting, etc;
I changed from windows to live mail and it did stop for several weeks but it has started again, i am not at all tech minded and just have no idea what to do.
Please help me someone

SO you send in english and they show in english do you repaints get them in chinese? More than one recipient? What isp are you using for email? have you run a virus scan lately?

run AVG scan every day and did reg clean today. ISP is tiscali.
it only happens on my vista laptop.
my big PC has windows XP this with tiscali isp, and it doesn't happen with XP.

This is what you do Go to Windows mail...tools...options....spelling. Set english as default. Hopefully that will work.

Just had a thought. Do all your contacts receive it in Chinese or only one? Error could be at the other end.

First thing I did was make sure I had English language checked, Not everyone is getting this it started with just one person last count it was four.

after I ran the reg clean I mailed one of them to see if it was fixed.
Got a mail back saying he got it in English but as he hit send on the reply it changed to Chinese.
All mail from them arrives with me in English no problem.

Ill be honest with you; I never heard of this problem. I know that you checked for virus, but that would be my real guess. The email is automatically suppose to work with the same language as set on the computer. The fact that everything you see is in English, but then it is received in Chinese is even more confusing. I will keep thinking about this and if anything comes to mind I will respond, again. Zigzag, is also working on this and he is one of the best. If there is a solution we will find it.

See only one, old hit. Not a common problem.

no not common, and looks like no solution other than not using my email on vista.
if it is a virus it cant be found.

Thanks loads, I am discovering it isnt such a rare occourance I googled and found more on different tech sites.
i think I have already done all they suggest, but it does seem to happen more than one would think.
Outgoing email appears in Chinese in microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

and another, I wont post too many links

You gave us a tough one. When you set the language, I assume its Western European. And it is set from the main screen, not the new email screen.

yes it is, whatever the problem is it is intermittent as it appears to be normal again at the moment.
a really strange puzzle.
but thanks loads for trying to help you are very kind.
I do have google mail and my PC to use, so don't get brain fever dwelling on this one

well it does seem to come back, so a permanent fix, or just knowing what it is would be very satisfying.

Is there any chance the emails are getting changed en route, not by your machine? Who is you ISP? Are you using the default DNS server?

Try downloading Malwarebytes free and scanning for viruses.

The email is set to work in the same language as used in the computer. Maybe we can try this. Go to the web page with your cursor....right click.....encoding.....western european and not auto select. Maybe, this or Jonathan's will hit on something that will work.
