DVD ROM only reads CD's now

I was burning a dvd with nero, before the dvd finalized, my laptop crashed. now the drive does not recognize DVD's...blank, burnt, or real dvd movies. but, when i stick CD's in it, whether they are blank, burt, or retail it reads no problem. i tried a method referring to deleting filters via 'regedit', but when i reached the folder...no filters of anykind were found. any ideas would help...thanks.

vista home premium x64 if it matters.

Hello Beefbowl,

I would open up device manager and uninstall the DVD drive. Then restart, and let Vista install all the drivers. That might fix it.

Alright. So the same problem right? Try reinstalling the DVD drivers that came with it.

You could also try uninstalling it in Device manager and physically take it out. Then reboot. From there, clean your registry, and turn it off again. Put the drive back in, and restart. That might fix it, because it will have cleaned out the registry.
