Dvd player software

Hi,

Does anyone know of any good DVD player software that works with Vista 64bit,

I have tried Power DVd 6 but that keeps crashing even with the patch from Power DVd's web site. I have tired Windows Meida Player but that keeps crashing to, I have even tried another disk drive but the same thing happens.

If they crash it could be due to lack of the proper codecs.

Try installing Vista Codec Package Homepage (VCP) and also install the 64-bit components.

I have installed these when I installed the first one Kasperksy dected a confick with the programs and said that it removed. The program said that it installed correctly still. The 64 bit software installed ok as well. Do I need to worry about the confick that Kaspersky picked up or not?

If your getting sound and vision then you should be okay.

Can you remember what the conflict was? It may have just been a particular codec that was flagged.

Yeah it part of the DVD, it seems to be playing DVS ok now, but Power DVD 6 does not like vista much cuz it keeps crashing, what software can you reconmmend that will allow me to do this either free or payed would be good.

Try VLC, its free and supports vista.

Powerdvd 7 works. But VLC plays just about everything.

I am in the stage of reinstalling the Vista codecs listed above. Do I need to install this as well? |MG| QuickTime Lite for VCP 1.1.3
I have a few quick time moves would this make any difference to the sound quality if I installed it? Or could it cause problems if I installed it?

I am using Power DVD 4 just fine on my vista. I want a newer software however. I was looking at the new Power DVD 8 or WinDVD9. Those are both good I think.

For codec packs I use CCCP
Combined Community Codec Pack

I dont think it plays .vob's but everything else. I would stick with the two i mentioned for dvd players though. I trust programs dedicated to taht stuff more than a codec for another program.
