Solved Dvd is missing from my computer

Well after fixing the problem with the sata cable lock,i have now another problem.My DVD is missing from my computer ,i have taken out the Samsung one that was there as i thought it was faulty ,i think now it might be OK,i replaced it with a lg model from an older PC but i know its hardly been used.i put the DVD in the drive the led light flashes as if to read the disk ,but then it goes of and that's it . I put the Samsung back in and tried to run the install disk but of course that wont run either. also i can not tell hat jumper is what as the is no stamp to indicate this.What do you guys think the problem is please and would i be better of to buy a sata dvd burner.

Did you go to search by the start button, type device manager and make sure that the driver is installed?

Hi Rich no the driver is not there i followed some reg instruction and the upper and lower filters have been removed

on the back of the samsung dvd burner i can see 12345 stamped but nothing to indicate what is slave or master there only three sets of 2 pins

Try going to the website of the burner's manufactuer and see if they have drivers. Did you go to the Samsung website?

ill try again but yes i did go there ill have a look ,what about the jumper pins

I dont really know about the pin, but I will ask another member to help who is very knowledgable in areas such as that.

GSA-H10A i am having alot of trouble finding drivers for this lg model ,i have given up with the samsung

I put in the request. Please be patient, time zones, weekends etc, I don't know when he will be back online, but the wait should not be too long.

i think i will just bin this one as well as it was bought in 2005 and ill just get a new one .thanks for your help ill wait for a reply about the jumper pins can you recomend a good 1 that is plug and play .

Hi Rich thanks again for your help but i give up i just got a continuous merry go round trying to find drivers and firmware.So i went and bought a USB dvd burner all problems are solved now No need for jumpers thanks again for your help .Have a great christmas to you and your family.
