my dvd drive on vista home premium has stopped reading cd-rom can anyone help

Try it on a different machine if possible. Sounds like a bad drive.

As you said that the DVD Drive is not reading CD Rom - do you mean it reads DVDs.

it reads some dvds this happened a few weeks ago aswell the dvd drive vanished from my screen i had to restore to factory settings to get it back now the same thing is happening again
