Hi

I was on the internet and my computer suddenly shut off and there was this blue page with this message saying "windows shut off to protect data"....and "dumping files" ..it was so fast so I didn't get the whole message...then when I restarted the computer..it had problems and "Repair Startup" program was on to fix repairs on the computer..it happened a few times...then a few times...the keyboard was not working

Any idea what was happening to my computer? Dumping files ..what was that? When i did Clean up ...about 200 mb was removed.

thanks

Thats a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) and shows that the system suffered a fatal crash. The message info possibly tells us what to look for and may even show the faulting module, so we need to get that message to stay up so you can copy it. The file "dump" is simply what they call it when the system writes a log with what the exact system state was when the crash occured and that can be either sent to MS for diagnosis or sent to us here for the same.

I detest Disk Cleanups simply because many people don't really examine what the system wants to remove and quite possibly something important may have gone down the drain with this cleanup.

Oops, almost forgot...open Control Panel, then System, click Advanced System Properties in the top left, click settings button in Startup & Recovery section, take the checkmark out of the "Automatically Restart" box and make sure the "Write event to the system log" box is checked.
Now when this happens again you should get the BSOD long enough to copy the info, copy it Exactly and paste that into a message in this thread please.
When this happens again, you will have to manually restart the computer now as it will NOT restart on it's own.
