driver_power_state_failure BSOD

Hello, thanks for looking at my thread. I seem to have an on-going BSOD that i can't seem to solve. It is a driver_power_state_failure, the bug check code is 0x1000009f, and it is always from the driver ntoskrnl.exe.

It seems to be related to when the laptop sleeps (HP dv5), but i can't figure it out. I've attached my dump logs.

I have looked at lots of similar threads, but can't seem to solve my problem, so i decided to make a new thread.

Hi mondena,

I have analyzed the recent Blue Screen, and found that the error messages are caused because of the file hpdskflt.sys. This is related to driver for the HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection software. Uninstall the software and check if it works.

Please follow the steps in the below mentioned link and check if it works: Solved HP Notebook BSOD - Everytime on Shutdown. - Windows 7 Forums

Providing another link which could help: blue screen-- Stop 0x9F caused by hpdskflt.sys - Microsoft Community

If issue persists, run the built-in diagnostics provided by the manufacturer on the computer to check if the hardware is working fine.

Please post the results.

First, my apologies for taking a month to get back on this, and thanks for your quick reply! I don't have access to this laptop everyday, so i couldn't update. I have ran all the hardware tests, and it passes everything.

I can't find any ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection or HP 3D DriveGuard. However, there is something listed in Device Manager that sounds very similar, it is HP Mobile Data protection center. Under driver details it lists hpdskflt.sys as well as hpservices.exe and accelometer.sys

I have updated that driver to a newer version, (now v 4.2.2.1). I will report back once i know if the problem continues.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi mondena,

Did you update the drivers or re-installed the drivers on the computer?

If drivers are updated, I request you to uninstall the drivers from the Device Manager and restart the computer; please refer to the following link for detailed instructions to uninstall the drivers: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/171469-uninstall-device-device-driver.html

Then install the newer drivers and check the performance of the computer.

For any clarifications feel free to contact me.
