This is my first time posting here and I hope I am doing this right.
I was watching a movie on my PC and paused it. When I came back and tried to wake the compuetr the black screen remained. I then turned off the PC and turned it back on and go the blue screen with the following error:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
If this is the first time you've been seen this Stop error screen, restart
your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select
Safe Mode.

I am using Vista x64 OEM and have had this computer for about 1 year now. It is a Gateway. I'm unable to retsart in safemode or anything else as it comes back to the blue screen. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

I read your conversation with Bgold from 2 hours ago, entitled, "How to fix a crash". My problems are very similar as I'm unable to download a file because I can't get into safe mode. I do have the recovery disk and attempted to run it on Saturday but was unsuccessful as it went to the blue screen after selecting any of the choices from F8. However, when I selected repair it asked for a user sign in and never went any further. Are there anymore options?

I really do feel bad. If I were at home, I could read your dump file and get you started, but alas, I cannot
The best I can do is give you the template instructions on how to get started.
Rest assured that I have posted your problem in Seven Forums and you will be helped

You have a problem with your storage controller driver. iaStor.sys Windows process - What is it?
Have you got a way to check your harddrive from your bios.
It may also be an idea to check the settings for your SATA drive in the bios.
