Downloading problems

I'm having problems with my Vaio Notebook, When I download files such as mp3, the download finishes then suddenly it just closes, when i checked the folder on where i saved the mp3 it's not there. Flv files too, saving pictures works well.
What can i do?

are you using IE8?

I had a similar problem, the only way i fixed it was to create a new user account & transfer all my settings & files over.
