Disk errors

Hi, All
I am experiencing disk errors (Type 7) showing up in the event viewer on my Dell Inspiron 530s. The Vista Home Premium (64-bit/sp2) OS seems to be running OK. I installed a Seagate 500 gig drive as a 2nd drive with no problem. I intended to clone the existing drive to the new one, using the software provided with the Seagate drive (DiskWizard). Then remove the old Western Digital drive. During the cloning, the software fails with too many read errors. Is there another way to copy the original “C” drive to the new drive & be able to boot it? Will an image copy work? Different cloning software? Please advise…
Thanks in advance.

I first ran chkdsk from the cmd window under Vista. I ran it in read-only mode. The response: Windows has checked the file system found no problems. 0 kb in bad sectors. Will it make a difference if I run it when booting from DVD?
