Disk Boot Error

I have an Acer AX 1200 with Vista Home Premium 64. The other day the comp started to get stuck right after the bios screen and says disk boot error and insert system disk. Vista load fine once I insert the disk and it will also load if I enter and exit the bios. My boot order in bios is set to HD first.

Everything is find once Vista loads, it's just a little frustrating having to go through the bios everytime. What could be causing this?

Thanks

I've tried the startup repair and it says there is nothing wrong. I've used the recovery cd to restore the computer to factory defaults as well.

Remove a side panel and check the drive connectors...is this a SATA drive ? ?
As always when working inside the case remove all power sources and take anti-static precautions.

Everything's connected to the HD...it's a single drive. What's weird is that the computer will boot find if I enter and exit the bios. Also, it boots fine when I do a re-start.

I thought the problem was fixed but my computers been acting up again. The computer will come up with the disk boot error message the first time but will start fine upon reset.

I've used the recovery disk and it shows and error relating to external storage or device. I don't have any external drives connected. Hmmm...

Nothing shows up in device manager and bios is set to boot from HD first. I used bootrec and it didn't seem to help much.

Is there a setting for Hard Disk Latency Time in bios? if so, try setting it to about 30secs.
It sounds like your hard drive doesn't have enough time to initialize upon first boot. (it shouldn't happen, but if you have this option, try it)If it solves it, or even if not, you might have power problem on your hard disk's board.
