Disc has errors?

I have tried to do a ‘System restore’ but get the message that the Disc [c] has errors how do I check this ? Is there a built in program that will check and fix?

Many times the problems indicate that the hard drive itself is in danger of failing. Whenever you get an error as you have mentioned, it is best to back up and do a through check. If you fail this one, start looking for a new hard drive

I have tried #1 and #4 but no luck, I have backed up on a seagate ext drive, I could do a DELL restore as a last resort.
I think this happened when I accidental clicked on 'Recent changes' in Computer and shredded the damn thing

Test the hard drive using Rich's test .

It's starting to get a bit technical but I will try

Basically, use another computer, and burn the cd/dvd of the test. then just set bios to boot cd/dvd first and then put her in and do the test. I have done that test myself, piece of cake really. Give it a shot. This test will confirm your hard drive as good or bad.

Make sure to do the full test. I don't remember what it says exactly but it takes a few hours depending upon the size/speed of your hard drive.

OK I chickened out and did a DELL Restore, this put the PC back to the condition it was in when new and did the trick plus got rid of a lot of rubbish that I did not know I had. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Well, makes you wonder what made it show that Disc [c] had errors. Keep an eye on hard drive for failing. Glad you are fixed . Did you get all your updates yet ?

@Yard Dog Up dates still coming in I think I have installed SP2 and all of its updates but you never know

Just take a few at a time and restart, sometimes errors will occur if you install too many at once. Good Luck.

Correct to install a few. Watch the size, however, important to keep the size of each install small.
