Disappearing Icons

One day I was on the internet and when I closed it I noticed that my icons were gone. I was like wtf. I unclicked show icons and clicked it again and they call came up but in a different way than what I had them. So i spent some time arranging them the way they were. Now everytime I start up my computer they are gone. I do the same procedure but I dont have to rearrange them they are in the right spot. I have searched and came across a guy with the same problem but no one has helped him and it was asked like over a year ago. I did virus checks, updated my virus programs, reset icon cache, and refreshed it. None of the tips worked. I dont want to have to do this everytime I start my computer. Some research also led me to believe it could be something with explorer.exe but I dont want to do all that just yet untill I know for sure it might be the problem.

Thanks for reading my wall of text and hope someone can help me.

resetting icon cache and refreshing it. Some people said it could be bad definition in Norton, updated it and it still did it, updated Adaware just incase and it didnt do anything either. I also ran full system scans in both Adaware and Norton, Cleaned with CCleaner and nothing.

Alright I got it. It ended up being something with the battery settings on my computer. I accidently hit "quiet office" which turns off all the icons on the desktop. I set it back to what I had it and BOOM their all back.
