Disable » "Browse in Same Window"

Currently when I download an Excel file from a webpage it opens it in IE. I want it to open in Excel.

I have already confirmed that Excel will open all files that have the file type .xls

By default the WIndows has the "Browse in Same Window" box checked I am wanting to Uncheck this box in Vista.

In XP we can go to Tools»Folder options»File Type»XLS»advanced

and select check boxes for these properties
»Confirm after download
»Always show extention
»Browse in same window

I am trying to find these same properties in Vista.

Does anyone know where I can find this?

Here we site 4 months later and still struggling with this issue.

How to configure Internet Explorer to open Office documents in the appropriate Office program instead of in Internet Explorer

However, this does not state that it applies to Vista nor does it state it applies to IE 7.0.

I really need to get this item changed. Can someone please help figure how to change my registry.

Out of curiosity, you don't sate which version of Vista x64 you're running , nor which version of Excel. Can you specify?

I just looked up a site with free spreadsheets on it in IE and clicked on one, selecting the Open button - and it opened Excel 2007.

I think I might have found the answer, but it does depend upon your version installed....

Oh, and BTW - sorry I couldn't answer earlier - but I haven't been here 4 months, either....

I am running Office Excel 2003 SP3 on a Vista64 Home premium system.
