Digidesigns M-box 2 and Pro Tools!?

Hello guys,

Lately I bought a new nice laptop with a strong cpu and lots of ram. The reason was, that a wanted to use it for both gaming, programming, designing and recording music.

This other day, I finaly had enough saved up for buying the M-Box 2 with Pro Tools software. At this point, I realised, for my big dissapointment and confusement, that it wasn't supported for my Vista system?

I learned, that Digidesign doesn't support Vista Home Basic, and overall doens't support 64 bit systems!? Ok, maybe this is Digidesign's problem, but then again - if I had known this before I bought my laptop, I would surely have bought a mac instead, so at that time it gets your problem.

My question is therefore: Why is M-Box 2 and Pro Tools not supported for x64 Vista systems, and why only a couple of x32 systems? This is simply not good enough, and I really must underline my dissapointment in this case.

When will it be compatible to my version of Vista, or just any x64 Vista systems?

I hope I can get a good answer from you guys :)

Regards,
The dissapointed danish musician Max Boderskov

You may want to look at a different recording option. There are a few companies out there that seem to be quicker to write drivers for new O.S.'s. I've actually had my eye on the Tascan FW-1804. Its around the same price and offers 8 ins. The only caveat is that it comes packaged with Cubase LE and not pro tools.

Are you looking for a specific number of Channels? More than 2, 4?

Here's a couple more suggestions:
Tascam 16 Channel USB Supports 32bit Vista

Edirol UA-101 Vista 32 and x64

I found out that I actually have Firewire in my computer, so if that's best, that is a sollution anyway!

I'm looking for just 2 xlr inputs, and it would be nice if it had spdif out.

Any other suggestions based on these features?

Btw: Thanks for helping!

I just looked at the prices, and I'm afraid it's over my budget  I was thinking of maybe half of what it costs... Is there any cheaper alternatives?

Well, I wanted a new Vista 64 bit laptop(some good deals around), but when I saw it was not compatable with an industry standard program like Pro Tools ,I ordered a Custom Lenovo instead with the Windows XP downgrade option. Everybody on the laptop review forums seem to feel that Vista 64 has the potential to outperform XP, but the system has not of yet matured to that level, and we thank you for your support.

Till now the mbox and pro tools software is not compatible with 64 bit vista.I don't know whether it will be compatible in future or not but i think it will be compatible in future.
