Destination folder access denied

Maybe someone can help with this too. When trying to copy a folder from a memory stick to my external HD it says Destination folder access denied. You need permission to perform this action. No doubt its something similar to my last post, but I can't seem to get around it. Any info would be great. TIA :D BTW I have 2 memory sticks and only one came up with this.

Hello Nick,

Are you able to save the file to the desktop first, then save it to the external drive location?

Hi.....

Shawn. I tried moving the folder to the desktop and then moving it from there to the memory stick. This didn't work. Had the same problem.

Lordbob. I can copy other files to the memory stick. Then when I tried to move it back I couldn't.

Thanks guys.

OK. So it appears your problem is indeed with the flash, since you cant copy files back to your computer, correct?

Make sure anything important is not on the flash, then do a format of it to the FAT32.

I can cut / copy to desktop or anywhere else. It just won't let me add them to my external HD. Seems like the HD needs me to allow it permission to add stuff there. Never had any probs with my old XP. :(

Nick,

I assumed that you had already tried taking ownership of the external drive from your first post, but as a test, create another administrator account, and see if you have any problems adding files to your external HD then. You might also try from the built-in Administrator account as well.
