Destination Folder Access Denied

I edit my external HD sometimes to change names of my files & I get this message.
Destination Folder Access Denied, then I have to click Continue, then in user accounts control it says windows needs your permission to continue & I have to click Continue again. XP didn’t give me this run around, what’s the deal with Vista? I’ve searched but can’t find a fix for this.
I’m the Admin & can’t understand why Vista is treating me like a child & making me double check what I tell it to do. Isn’t my computer a PC or is it now owned by Vista!! That’s frustration coming out but I have other small issues about user unfriendly Vista where XP was user friendly.

This is the new feature of Vista. Its controled by the User Account Control system and tries to act as another security layer. There have been many complaints about it being too in your face and Windows 7 version will be calmed down somewhat.

You could follow the http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67567-administrator-account.html?ltr=A and http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/80938-user-account-control-uac-elevate-privilege-level.html?ltr=U tutorials.

Make sure you transfer your Documents and pictures etc from your current account before switching to the administator account and then transfer your files to their new home.

I'll try that but I was afraid that 7 was going to add an extra Click that said “I Double Dog Dare You to Make this Change”, LOL.
XP is gone, Vista is crap & I wonder if 7 is going to be basically be an XPse? Most people don’t like Vista & we’ll pay the $150 upgrade to 7 to get rid of the headache. Good market ploy on MS.

What area are you having trouble understanding?

I see what's there but can't find a solution to my question about my orig post. Do you have the same problem I do? Do you have an external HD that you can rename without the extra 2 clicks?

Being administrator reduces the number of clicks.

Being administrator reduces the number of clicks.

In Vista, even though you are using an administrator account, you still run with Standard account privileges.
That’s good to know, I’ve always heard that it’s not good to surf or open email with your admin account.

Well this is the full bonafide administrator account thats normally hidden. As long as you have good anti virus and malware tools you'l be ok.

I sort have thought that & with Vista I like that feature. I can now do all I want in their limited account but it sure is a can of worms to learn all these other things. I’m still a novice & want the day where I can talk & tell my computer what to do like they did on Star Trek, LOL.

BTW last night’s bar hop was good & my GF gave me dirty looks when I didn’t show up till 10am.
