Solved Desktop Icons

Suddenly??.. My desktop icons have a square around them??.. before they did not??..Can anyone tell me why this is??..and how can I have them back to normal again??..Thank You

Hi Riptorn,

This can happen when the icons used for the desktop shortcuts do not support a large icon view size setting. Set the icons for a smaller view size to see if that may help.

Thanks Brink???..The icons are in classic view, I enlarged them to large,and this put the shadow square smaller inside the icon?? strange??,it did not solve the problem??

Strange. Have you already tried to see if a restart may reset this and stop it from happening?

The only thing I can suggest now is a System Restore using a restore point dated before this started to see if it can fix it.

Thanks Brink... Well that may be ok???..but I adjusted my system restore to only 1GB??..So to restore it to another date is a bit????..hmmm???,as it says only to yesterday.. lol...:huh:

LOL, well that does put a damper on that idea. You might take a look at or uninstall anything that have done right before this started to happen to see if it may be related.

Other than a complete clean reinstall, the only other thing I know to do that shoulf fix this is a repair (upgrade) install.

Ok Thanks Brink.. I will let you know the outcome??..LOL.. Drastic measures to fix desktop icons??..:huh:

Brink.. I downloaded Vista Shortcut Manager, and it fixed the icon problem, because once I removed the large arrows, by some program.Thanks for your time.
