Denied Access to windows update?

I cannot check for updates, it says "Some settings are managed by your system administrator" and i dont have access to any settings, i am the admin and the only user of this computer. Also when i try to install updates and security fixes from Microsoft's website, every single update package gives me the error "This update does not apply to your system". I contacted Microsoft support for this and they sent me a hotfix that should fix this, but it didnt fix it. Is there a way to give me control over Windows Updates again ?

type gpedit.msc in run,

In the window drill down User configuration>administrative templates>windows components>windows Update. In the right pane double click on remove access to access all windows update features and make it disabled.

restart your system and let me know the result:)

Thats the problem, im running Vista Home Premium, and there is no gpedit in it. Is there any 3rd party tool wich can replace gpedit ? if not, i will have to do it in the registry.

Go to regedti,

Drill down hklm>software>policies>microsoft>windows>windows Update. Right click on windows update key and select export, save it to your desktop and submit the key here.

Let us check what is wrong with that :)
