ive been trying to delete some large files for a long time, but everytime I do an error comes up saying "you need permission to perform this action" and that the destination folder access was denied. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Try running Disk cleanup - type cleanmgr in start search.
When you run it, tick boxes for what you want to remove , then OK.
