Deeply imbedded virus

I have a virus on my 64 bit Vista home ultimate (an OEM) computer. It affects the PC on a basic level. It disables scroll by continually pulling it upwards when I try to scroll down. This affects absolutely everything, even when i boot from my Vista OEM disc i cant select Australian English because if i open the drop down menu it scrolls to the top and selects Afrikaan and i cant select any other. So this virus is affecting my computer much more deeply than any other I have ever had.

I cant end processes or select files because as well as locking up scrolling, if i select any file with a left click it immediately re-selects the top one, this is the same for every file, browser, and the desktop. I can somewhat skirt this by dragging a box to select a single file and pressing enter. But it doesnt work for something like task manager where i cant drag a box. Sometimes it alternates by doing the same thing, but selects the bottom process. It makes me type backwards (im writing this at work) for everything, including my login password.

It even does it to programs like Kasperskys (i run an updated Kasperskys 2009) it will not let me open anything but the topmost option. The entire virus sometimes abates for a short period before it starts again.

I have tried several full scans with Kasperskys and Windows Defender. I cannot do a system restore, i have tried several times from within regular windows, in safe mode and from booting the Vista disc. It always fails, and states that the restore was unsuccessful and no files were altered, or that the restore point was damaged/deleted. This has happened before this virus but after several tries it would eventually work and restore windows to where i asked. I suspect that system restore would be the best way to fix this problem as it would roll back windows.

I have a backup using windows backup and restore on a hard drive connected to my computer, but this is not an image it can only restore files, i have ran the restore and it didnt change anything (expectedly). Since it is connected to my PC the virus may be in my backup anyway. I have never heard of this virus before and neither have any of my colleagues (i work in IT)

Does anyone have any solutions?

Have you tried another keyboard? If it affects your boot disc, it sounds like your up key is fubar

Alright everyone else try this then. Hold down the up key and try clicking any menus. You'll notice the EXACT symptoms that he describes. The simplest solution is sometimes the best solution. If you're going to decide what it is or isn't when you're asking for help, why even ask? The first step is always check the physical layer.

I dont want to seem ungrateful for your help. I am asking for help because i know what it is, a virus, and i dont know how to destroy it. This is the part id like help for. I described the symptoms so as to help people help me identify the specific virus.

This is why I hate when former IT guys come into my office with broken equipment. In the time it took you to reply twice telling me I'm wrong, you could have swapped keyboards and said "I tried it, didn't work" and posted once.

crazyman,

Have you only scanned with Kaspersky and Win Defender? Why don't you scan with a few other apps, to see if it picks it up, if it is malware. Just using the two programs there doesn't mean either one would pick it up.

Some good free programs you could run some full scans with, and report back if it's found anything.

Malwarebytes
Superantispyware
Spybot SD
Microsoft MSRT
