Cut and Paste Problems

LIT

Member
When I cut and paste text from Firefox web pages, into Word, Vista closes down. It will not let me do this. I have to copy into AlbiWord then cut and paste from there into the document I am creating.
Anyone know why this happens? Never had this problem with XP ( then again never had any of the problems I get with Vista with XP LOL)

What exactly do you mean by Vista closing down?

What part of NO don't you understand? LOL
A message come up saying something like Windows does not recognize this action and closes down the original doument i.e. the one I'm trying to paste into. I have to re-open the file, cut and paste into AlbiWord then cut and paste into my word doc. Happens everytime. It's Vista Ultimate by the way.
Come back XP all is forgiven!

You won't get much help around here with a comment like that!
Maybe you should go back to XP, Lol.

I have read your original post several times to try and understand what you are talking about, but I still don't get it. This forum is full of people that just want to help others try to solve any problems they may be having with their computers. If you wanted help, you came to the right place, but don't be putting out sarcastic comments when one of us tries to help you.

As for your problem, are you able to cut and paste normally using Internet Explorer? The only thing that comes to mind why Firefox wouldn't let you is because of some addon that you have that is conflicting with something there. Try running Firefox in safe mode to see if it helps.

Man we are sensitive souls here. LOL

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my intention.

I'm no expert on these things (computers) if I was, I obviously would not be here. No offence meant.

I've narrowed it down a bit. It only happens when I bring up a 'Bookmark' document from Firefox, not if I cut and paste from a site which is 'live' so to speak.

The message I get is:

'Microsoft Works Processor has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'

How do I run Firefox in safe mode. Again no expert at work here.

Thanks

It's not that we may be sensitive, but when we offer to try and help somebody only to be replied with "What part of NO don't you understand?" I was a little like "Woah, what's wrong with him?". Also, most of us here aren't computer experts either, we just know different parts of computers and join all the info here in the forum to make a friendly, informative database.

Onto your topic, I've never worked with Live Bookmarks in Firefox, so I'm sorry to say that I probably won't be of much help. Somebody that's more knowledgeable with the Live Bookmarks may be able to help you...

Finally, since you discovered the problem lies with the Live Bookmarks, I don't think running in safe mode will make any difference. Either way, to run Firefox in safe mode, go to Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)

Good luck and welcome to the forums

The other part of the problem is that your original post, as I quoted above, says "Vista closes down" - hence the first reply, asking what you meant. Later on you say your Works processor has shut down - that, my friend, is not Vista.

Can you see now how there was a bit of confusion going on?

If there is one thing most of the folks here have learned, if not here then somewhere else, is that if something a person says does not make sense, ask for clarification. Even if it does make sense, if there is not enough information, ask for clarification.

As you have no discovered this only occurs with bookmarked sites not 'live' sites as you call them - which I am taking to mean sites you load from typing the URL into the address bar or by clicking a link - however, bookmarks should also be 'live' in that sense as you are connecting to them via the URL that you have saved.

Since you use Firefox this is a page you'll want to get intimately familiar with - Firefox Support Home Page - here you can find lots and lots of answers, including things like how to run Safe Mode,l how to create a new profile for testing purposes, etc.

John,

Many thanks. I just assumed that as I click on 'Start' 'Programes' 'Microsoft Works Task Launcher' then into the word processor that this application was part of the OS.
Computers! Like women I guess. Can't live with them. Can't live without them. LOL
(No offence to any female posters! Just a little bit of humour)
I'll go digging into Firefox.

Good luck, and ask away if you have any more questions.

Oh, BTW - when you run Firefox in Safe mode, ***do not make any of the changes permanent*** - this is a test only a one time thing if you will - so the last thing you want is to make all your addons permanently disabled.
