CS3 and Vista 64x

Hi Folks, I'm having absolutely no luck installing Adobe CS3. I've tried everything that I could find suggested on various forums to no avail and have even contacted Adobe support. They tell me they don't support trial downloads but that my situation is "strange" and unusual. This is not the impression I get from looking at several different forums, also I can't buy a piece of software I can't install
My PC is about 4 months old. Spec as follows- Asus P5N-E SLI, Q6600, nVidia 8600GT, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower 650 PSU+Samsung 226BW monitor.
I must have downloaded at least a dozen CS3 trials and attempted to install them. The files extract onto the desktop and then when I run setup I get the installer window. The bar moves across and that's the end of the story.
I have tried running an elevated command prompt:-
"cd C:\Windows\SysWow64" then "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" then "regsvr32 jscript". I thought this was going to be successful but when I tried to run the installer it failed and I got the following message:
"The module "vbscript.dll" was loaded but the call to DLLRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80004005"
I outlined all this in my mail to Adobe and receved the suggestion thet I set up another user account with admin privileges (as the only user I am admin anyway) and start again from scratch.
I've done this with identical results, same error message etc.
Can anybody help?
John Williams:confused:

Since my initial post I've had a look in my Windows file. In it I find both System32 and SysWOW64 files. Both contain jscript.dll and vbscript.dll but the files in System32 are slightly larger than those in SysWOW64. I thought it might help if I tried putting the System32 .dlls into the SysWOW64 file but Vista won't let me.
I don't really understand what I'm doing here. Help, John:confused:

I don't have a solution for you but thought my expeience might help others pinpoint the problems with cs3 and vista x64.

I can get the trial version of CS3 to install, but it won't launch the program. The process starts and then nothing. There is no error message, no splash screen, nothing at all. The process just sits there. After killing the process and going to the event viewer (eventvwr in the search box) and going to the application sub menu, there is an arror with side by side. It says it could not initialize mfc80u.dll. I don't know what this dll is or if it corrupt or if it is because it is a trial version or what.

If I turn off the FlexLM service, the apps will launch but tell me I don't have permission to run the program and I need to contact Adobe for licensing. This makes me think the error might be happening do to licensing structure and the reason Adobe won't tell us the fix is it could get around the trial.

I re-formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Vista (I was having other issues) and the tried to install the trial before installing any other software. No joy. The exact same thing happened. The software installs but no apps will launch.

The exact same disk installed and functions fine on my 4 year old HP laptop running xp sp2 home

Hi pcmxa. I'd virtually given up on this forum and was beginning to think I was the only one having problems with CS3.
However there hasn't exactly been a flood of replies so loads of people presumably have got it running ok.
I've tried everything short of a reinstall. I set up a new user account and started afresh. Nothing. I then tried the various command prompts that people have recommended. Still nothing.
I tried downloads of trial versions with no luck so I borrowed a friend's disk and that behaved in exactly the same way. Error 0x80004005.
Someone out there must know. I think we deserve to be told.
I've got similar threads on other forums and similar lack of replies. If I get anything that works I'll post it here.
Cheers, John Williams:mad:
