Cruzer issues

I have a 2 GB Sandisk Cruzer that suddenly stopped working. The orange light went off and Vista isn't even detecting that anything is in the USB port. I've tried every port on my computer and nothing happens except that the Cruzer gets very very hot (as opposed to another Cruzer I have that doesn't have any change in temperature).

All of my files (essays, artwork, etc) are on that disk because I often move from computer to computer. I've tried the disk on other computers and it still does't work. I can't afford to lose these files! Please help!

Hi Jessiebo and welcome to Vista Forums

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it would appear that this device has ceased to function, probably due to an internal fault. There might be ways of accessing the data again, but it would involve specialists and could prove to be cost prohibitive. The fact that you said it gets very hot and that there is no change when trying to access it on other machines would seem to bear this out.

I tried talking to a specialist that my mom knows and he said to google the problem b/c he'd never heard of this happening before. I'll look around and see if there is any other specialist that can help me. I feel stupid for not saving the files on my C drive as well :P

I've done a little shopping around for Data Recovery services. So far the cheapest price I've come across is $485! Anyone know of a cheaper service?
