crossover cable question

I've built a desktop media server that's hooked up to my TV via HDMI for holding random tv shows and whatnot. I've also got a Sony BD player hardwired up for NetFlix. I'm going to use a Belkin USB wireless adapter for the desktop unit - what I'm curious about is if I can use a crossover cable going from the NIC to the BD player and just use the WiFi part to get to the router.

Des that make sense?

Hi,

Sounds about right but only if the BD player is connecting to the PC or TV & the PC to the router via wireless.

If the BD is going to connect to the router (Via wire) then a straight cable will needed. OK?

Does that sound right to you?

Currently:
Router -> wifi -> HTPC
Router -> regular cat5 -> BD player

What I'd like to try is this:

Router -> WiFi -> HTPC -> crossover cat5 -> BD player

Essentially daisy-chaining the HTPC and BD player together.

The router is in one of the bedrooms, and I'm hooking up the tv in the living room. As it stands, we've got a network cable running from the bedroom to the living room. Looks just a -little- ugly.

OK,

The PC will need to "Share the internet" for the BD player to see it!
