Hello,
I have a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatality Pro sound card.I have it for like 2 years now and I can say that I had a lot of problem with it.
The only problem that seems impossible to solve and which is driving me nuts is the crackling sound that I hear during music playback.
I have a Razer Mako 2.1 speakers and I've tried all the drivers from Creative (older and new) but that didn't helped.
The crackling sound is even worse when I activate X-Fi Crystalizer.
Searching for an answer to this problem I've found out about Daniel_K modified drivers. I installed them and even though the crackling isn't so obvious as before, it still can be heard.
I noticed that if I kept the audio volume from Vista under 60%, the crackling will disappear even with the speakers volume at maximum.
I borrowed a M-Audio Revolution 7.1 sound card from a friend and installed it on my PC.There was no crackling sound whatsoever and I had no issue with it.
I'm thinking seriously to go back to my onboard sound card.In the future I will know to stay away from Creative sound cards and their faulty drivers.
