Crashing

Vista keeps crashing. It has given some excuses including memory reference errors and when I click ctrl + alt + delete on one of the less severe freezes it gives a security error dialog box. Now it has decided to crash before it even loads (well, during loading, logon, and post logon loading). I am typing this post from within safe mode, in which it works perfectly. I have suspicions about a mouse driver, but I'm not clear on how to access mouse drivers. I need help with that. Although I'm not sure because of the crashing before loading thing. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. And if nothing else works, would it be a good idea to re-install vista? Thanks.

P.S. If I'm doing it wrong, sorry, I am new, idk the etiquette here.

P.P.S. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Hi Person012345 and welcome to Vista Forums

What is the message displayed in the dialog box you mentioned? Please quote the exact spelling used. Are you getting any BSODs? If so, what sort of error messages are shown? Finally, please fill in as much of your System specs as you can as it really does help.

Hit start, and search for "device manager" and open that. Go down to mice and other pointing devices. Make sure a mouse is listed, and try right clicking -> update drivers.

Um... Well, I can't remember the exact thing, and it now doesn't give it, since it doesn't log on at all, just stops. I did write down one of the errors, but from what I've seen they seem to change a lot. I'll try find it.

"The instruction at 0x76ff2007 referenced memory at 0x76ff2007. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc000009d"

That was one.

Some additional info: I have run virus, adware and spyware scans, nothing came up, and I ran windows memory diagnostics, again, all clean. The computer is a laptop and has a 2.1ghz Pentium Core 2 Duo processor, 3gb of RAM and 200GB hard drive (split into 2, idk if it's partitioned or two seperate drives). That is all I know off the top of my head of the specs, I'll try find some more.

From what I can see, it isn't ACTUALLY listed. It does work, I just can't seem to find it. Though there is a mouse that I've never actually had which is listed, though I assumed it's a default one, since it is supposedly a microsoft mouse.

Yeah mine is a Razer mouse, and it is just listed as HID compatible or whatever

BTW, the subject is no longer relevant as the computer has decided to completely stop charging, run out of battery and die. I have no reason to believe the problems are related. I believe uninstalling the mouse (I believe I did uninstall the one that said HID compatible, though I'm not 100%, but I know it was the one that wasn't the touchpad) did sort the problem. The not charging came a bit later. But if anyone knows how they could be related... But the computer is still in warrenty, so I'll have to phone them up (none of their authorised repairers on the Island I don't think). Though I'll shut up now.
