crashing after a couple minutes of internet connection

So I recently had the ThinkSmart malware on my laptop. After searching for help online I booted up in safe mode with networking and installed and ran Malwarebytes.

After doing this, ThinkSmart appears to be gone from my computer and I can boot up normally. However, now it seems that if I connect to the internet while booted up normally, after a couple minutes I'll get a bsod and the computer will forcefully restart. The only way I can get online is through safe mode.

Does anyone know what to do about this?

vista is x86, OEM
computer is slightly over a year old.

Hi, thanks for you advice.

I ran the program for the mini dump earlier, and it ran to the third part and then I waited half an hour without any sign of progress from it before I have up.

I tried clean booting and got to the point of enabling half of the startup items, and when I booted up I wasn't able to get an internet connection, or open anything on the start menu.

Also, another symptom: when I restart, the computer gets to its "logging off" screen and then doesn't seem to progress any further, so I just hold the power button until it shuts off.

[edit] oh wait, I understand now. No, the clean boot didn't fix the problem.

Here's everything I did get from as much of the mini dump that ran:

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:
http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq

You gave me about 40 dumps I checked 5, more than half indicated SPTD a known cause.

Follow instructions, if you have more BSODS post again.

Cool thanks, I'll check for those. And in the mean time I managed to run a more successful mini dump, as well as get a system health report, which I've attached.

Thanks for the files, but save your time. Until you make the suggested changes they all point to SPTD. Remove Daemon with the uninstall tool. Then I think the BSODs will end. If I am wrong send me more reports, then
Good Luck

Those reports usually just give clues, yours gave the answer. Enjoy the Holidays and your working computer.

It seems I'm not running completely problem-free.

While I was having this problem, other smaller ones were cropping up. Windows explorer has been finicky and slow at times, windows photo gallery won't open, and iTunes often won't run.

These problems are still present, and now in addition I can't open my networking options or search for internet connections or get online.

Any idea what this could be?

Run a full anti virus scan
If you can get it, run a full malwarebytes scan, but update it first

Makes a difference, in my opinion
You read and decide
Common sense should say that if everything is not loaded, malware may be missed.
Malwarebytes and Safe mode - Windows 7 Forums

You seem to be having one problem after another. Thats a classic sign of a virus.

Yeah that's what I figured.
I'll let this keep running to see if it finds anything, but try again and see if it won't boot up regularly afterwards.

After done, try in safe mode. If its fine, its most likely software. If you still have problems its hardware, most likely.
