In a recent thread (http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-debugging/282062-cannot-solve-bsod-problem-possibly-driver.html), I solved my BSOD problems and discovered I have problems with my memory sticks (at least 1 is bad), all thanks to the troubleshooting guidance of richc46. Now I know I have some bad memory, but while I am figuring out if I want to upgrade to a Win 7 i5 Core and motherboard or just get new Ram relative to my previous generation motherboard, I am wondering if anyone knows anything about these problems I am having, or if they happen just because I have some bad RAM.
I got a few errors besides a once in a while black screen (no control but not BSOD) after a few minutes of playing a game, and I'll do my best to describe them:
Buffer overrun detected
C: ...Portrait Displays\Shared\DT_Statup.exe
((-These are not exact wordings-)) Corrupted programs caused the internal state not to function properly. It has been prevented from running on your system
In the event viewer I found this: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: i8042prt - System
- Provider
[ Name] Service Control Manager
