Control Panel Too many Entries

Hello, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, but my Vista Control Panel shows too many entries.

If you look below, you'll see what I mean (Showing all CCC entries...) All help is appreciated...

Somehow you (or whoever built the computer) managed to install most, if not all of the supported languages when you installed the ATI driver. not even sure how you managed to do that. That and as far as I know on Vista at least you should only have an entry there for the "ATI Catalyst Install Manager".

Just uninstall all but the one that is the correct language for you.

It doesn't matter at all what I do.

Even the photoshop ones appear like that...shows too many entries...

EDIT: Also, the 'excessive' entries do no have a change or uninstall option on them.

It shows the entries that are not even meant to be there..

Awhile back there was a download for Windows Installer Cleanup Tool or something like that. You might check MS knowledgebase articles. On my machine what I got was I ran a program and it would ask me if I wanted to install it. Cleanup got rid of that happening.. and also some uninstall listings in Programs and Features.. but nothin's perfect

I've already tried all that...some of it still exists..

When I try to delete it, it says 'Cannot Delete MSI installer'

In that case, you may have to uninstall the main program (ex: ATI CCC video driver) and reinstall it without all of the extra language updates that you do not use enabled.

Problem is (If you've looked at the screens) it's happening with every program, the second screenshot shows ALL the photoshop programs, when there should only be one entry called Adobe Photoshop CS4.

This is also happening to my Microsoft Office entries...and I'm unable to delete them

Yes, that's why I suggested uninstalling the program and reinstalling it to see if it happens again. It may have been corrupted somehow during installation the first time. You might see if using Compatibility Mode on the program can help it install properly.

However, with it happening with most or all of your programs, then you might run a sfc /scannow command to see if it can find and fix any bad system files as well.

Hopefully that will help and a reinstall of Vista will not be needed.

Try this. First you must disable System restore, or you will have problems with the language uninstall procedure. remembr to reenable it afterwards!
Open the Control Panel - Programs -Uninstall a program.
Over in the lefthand window, click "View installed updates".
Scroll down the list and uninstall all the extra language packs (except your own, of course). You can "multiselect" - thats the point of disabling the restore facility.

Now reboot and reenable the restore function.
