constantly crash's

it's getting kinda boring now surely those nuggets over at microsoft are aware of all the problems with vista.

since i changed over i have made it a point to make sure i only use vista compatable hardware and software but that doesn't seem to help as the only stable software that runs(without crashing) was programmed for XP now that is just silly and a software company's excuse is ''we had to rush it onto the market'' so what does that mean, did they not even test their software.

now wishing i got a mac instead as microsoft and software company's need to pull their fingers out and start doing things properly i would rather wait 6 months for a game or app that actually works than spend the money to find out that it doesn't do what it says on the box.

all this due to the fact that not one app or game designed with vista in mind will run without crashing repeatedly over and over again so what does vista do other than try to look good not alot just gives you a headache as you wonder yet again why your computer has either crashed or just shut down what seemed to be an app or game that didn't seem to have a problem when it all of a sudden ends the app or game it even closed chess on me as it encountered a problem i understand that these things do happen but not on this scale this is just to often and microsoft really need a shoe put up there rear for not addressing these issue's sooner.

i hope that there are some out their who don't have these problems and thank you for reading my one and only rant about windows vista.
thank you

Could you post details about what exactly are the error codes??

Could you check the Reliability Monitor and post what is causing the errors??

What hardware and driver versions are you running??

have you updated your drivers to the latest ones? Or are you running what was on the CD?

Is it a home built PC?? Or is it one you bought from the store?

What are you doing at the time of the crash?

Does there seem to be a certain time period that passes from startup to crash? (Heat problems...)

Sorry for all the questions - But nobody can help if you don't give us something to go on.

OK - The C0000005 means an access violation of some kind, and the culprit - atidxx32 - is the driver for your video card. So the first thing is to check ATI for a new/updated one.

You can go to Microsoft Help and Support and look them up. You'll often need to read a few of the results to get a specific answer to a specific question, but it ain't bad... :)

Another thing you can do to figure stuff out is check for Problem reports: Start/Programs/Maintenance/Problem Reports Or you can search 'Problem Reports' and go straight there.

{edit} If your driver is brand new - you can remove it and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't help, perhaps an earlier version works.

Just a side note: With graphic drivers..make sure you totally uninstall your old driver before installing the new one. Don't just install over the old one as it tends to leave old data behind and can cause conflicts.

Yes it will roll back to the default OS drivers that are gained via Windows update, it does that on my system as well, but thats the default action of the OS. Just install the new drivers once uninstall of the previously installed drivers is done.

cheers thats good to know i'm not breaking anything on my computer the updated ati drivers seem to have solved alot of problems with some games crashing but DX10 doesn't seem to work as games only appear to run smooth in DX9 let me know if you know of any reason why this may be happening i asked ati but they don't know either i think it may be my mobo causeing some problems as the through put of data from the graphics card is alot higher than my mother bord so it's like hitting a bottle neck possible corrupting data as it does this, let me know if i'm n the right track with this.
cheers
