Connection problem

It appears that I do have a very serious connection problem, which has popped up suddenly out of nowhere with no sensible explanation.

When I go to "Connect to a Network" I see that my connection has only one of five bars, with the connection status listed as "Low." When I go to "Control Panel>Network and Sharing," and "View Status" I see that the "IPv6 Connectivity" is listed as "Limited."

I removed the "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" previously because it had a yellow exclamation point listed next to it in my Device Manager after having read on the Internet that it could be deleted without any side effects if a person can't get it working, which was what I did. I now see that the "IPv6 Connectivity" is listed as "Limited" when I go to Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center, and am wondering if this is due to my having removed the 6to4 adapter even though the system said it wasn't functioning properly. But I didn't have this slow connection problem until just the last couple of days, and I deleted the 6to4 adapter over a week ago.

IPv6 has nothing to do with "slow" or "one of five bars" wireless connectivity issues.

Try first of all verifying whether everything works normally when you're connected to the router with a wire. If so, then obviously the wireless NIC is somehow part of the problem, and you should first consider updating its drivers.

Beyond that, if signal strength is now much lower than it used to be, think about what may have changed from an environmental perspective. Has someone knocked down the antenna on the router? Is there a new source of RF interference in the vicinity? Who moved that sheet of nuclear-fallout-shelter lead in between the router and the PC?

---I always keep our wireless area CLEAN + UNBLOCKED, esp. when ppl. do like to block work/home areas without thinking about it---(at the library/hospitals, the antennae are fixed on the ceiling or near to, for clear signals)---

I'm not using wireless, but I found out that the problem is attributable to a new hook-up for the neighbor, which split my cable line and has caused me to lose signal strength. :::sigh::: But my PC was acting very strange as a result of it, and initially I had thought it might be a memory problem rather than a connection issue.

---thank you for clearing that issue up---(cable companies like to 'split' those lines don't they? and still charge us a full-line price. Our place here has a split-line also. grr)---

The funny thing is that when this line was hooked up a couple of years ago, one of the cable company's guys who came for a follow-up visit (I forget why) had told me that there were too many connections on that telephone hub that my line was hooked up to. I had forgotten about that -- and they ran a new line for me yesterday, I'm assuming to that same box/hub that I was connected to previously, which now also has the neighbor hooked up there too, who's still connected to my old line; they kept him on the same connection I had been on and ran a completely new line for me, and I noticed when watching MSN videos a little while ago that the videos were choppy while playing, so I think I may actually have to call these people yet again to tell them things still aren't entirely right perhaps. :::sigh:::

---YES---it is best to keep pestering the cable/phone-company, since the "customer-is-always-right"!---otherwise you could always hint to them (like my MOM does) that you are SWITCHING to another company---amazing how fast they fix current problems---

The only choice I would have in that case would be to go with DirecTV, because there's only one cable company in this neck of the woods; they have a cable monopoly here. But I'm going to give it until after tomorrow to see how things go, because some video plays well, some not so well, so I'm going to test it out some more.

I live in New York, so the weather would kill me, especially in the winter. Also, I'm a gamer --by no means a hardcore gamer, but I like to play Call of Duty 4 every so often (the only game on this PC, so as I said, not much of a gamer all things considered), but I've heard that satellite can't handle all the data that flows back and forth when gaming on the Internet, so DirecTV is out for me for that reason alone.

I don't believe they're advertising Internet connection as part of their packages anyway though.

There are plenty of women here it isn't just a male orientated forum and there is no reason for anybody to mock you, we all have to learn and by asking questions is the way we do.

It shouldn't take you long to find your way around here so just have a look around for a while and if you can't find answers to any problems just ask, there is always someone who can help whatever the problem and I doubt anyone will mock or heckle you.;)

Since you've already ask here, go to User CP/edit signature. Under where you type in your sig is the option to upload a pic. I believe the limit is 100x500 pixels. Click upload and save. ---THANK YOU for the reply---yes, I have read the forum rules---I did not aim any insults at any male members here, I was stating MY concerns---(feel free to EDIT my above earlier post! - I am willing to conform)---and I agree about respect, and manners online---/I was raised very strict/---

---well, I DID try the 'signature' image insert, and as you can plainly see, the only thing that it would allow me to use is the 'little-dinky-cute-mouse' - because when I tried to embed/insert a wide/deep image (like a few ppl. have in their sig! - definitely more than 3/rows), the preview says to "use less words, only 3 lines are allowed" - and I realize that the code for some of the images is mega-long-------so---how did others insert theirs?---(or is there more options for older members here? which would make sense to me)---
