Hello all

My computer has been acting crazy for the last 3 weeks, it takes almost a little over 3 minutes to power up, if I walk away and it goes into sleep mode I have to do a hard boot to get it back and shutting down I timed it last night took 4 minutes 10 seconds for it to shut down.

I have run all the usaul full AV, Malwarebytes, defraged, sfc just like always etc you all know the things we do.

Now my concern and I am a very trusting father, my computer always have problems after my adult son comes over then he leaves then the problems I ask him where he was searching the net like the kind of sites he goes to, I get no straight answer, I have not found anything but I think he is going to those sites I think you know what I mean how can I find out is there anything that I should look for in my computer. I had to shut him off 2 days ago and changed my password so he can not use the admin account no more, Thanks for any help

Tom

Hello Tom,

Just to be extra safe, I would recommend to use Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper at boot to run a full scan on your system to see if it may be able to find anything as well. Since it scans outside of Vista, it may be able to find something that the other scanners didn't.

I'd also check your startup programs to see if something may be there that shouldn't be.

Have you tried Soluto Tom?

Soluto

Its a great tool that Keith introduced to me. It shows you what's in the startup files and how long each of those takes to start. You can remove entries or delay them

Is there a way with suluto to permanantly to make the changes??? I went to uninstall it and it put all my stuff back... cccleaner did it to me too..

I would reccomend getting K9 web protection...If he tries to go the page, it will bark, and you have control of what is safe and what is not... I do go to those sites and I need to stop so I had installed K9....It is free software, unless some one can reccomend other site blockers for tom it would be great... And don't tell your son..untill he tries to open a site...he he..let him find out for himself you are taking action......

OK that last part was a little out there, but you need to take the bull by the horns and take charge of your computer again... I am Glad for this forum because I had and still has issues with my machine and The people here have been very friendly and helpfull...So americancritic Also Ask these people for a recommended virus etc cleaner....I cant recommend one because I am still looking, but for now I am using the Microsoft Security Suite and MalwareBytes myself...

Brink is the real expert, he is my friend and is an expert and can do wonders for your computer....

Mine was almost dead, and now it is working tops, with the exception of a few little bugs I need to fix..
