What is the manufacturer, make, and model of your computer (if it is a Dell or HP, then the Service Tag number or serial number would be of great help as well so I can see your exact machine - but if you're not comfortable revealing that that's OK)? What version of Vista do you use (e.g., 32-bit Vista Business SP2)? Are you able to successfully boot and just get that message or does the computer freeze as well and stop booting? If you can boot, does the message provide any options (and OK or Cancel or Debug button - how do you get rid of it?)

And please provide the EXACT and COMPLETE error message word-for-word including any codes. Are you running on AC power or just the battery - if the battery, plug in the AC adapter as this file is most likely the the battery driver and indicates a driver problem, a battery or battery-related hardware problem, or perhaps malware depending on where the file is located. Using the AC adapter probably won't solve the problem, but it's probably a good idea if there's some type of problem involving the battery. Try removing the battery and reseating it again to make sure it is properly connected. If you have a second battery, try using that one and see if the same message occurs. When did this start? What does the battery indicate - is the light on and, if so, what color? Does it show fully charged? Does it show charging? Does it show it is drained or nearly drained?

Go to C:\Windows and see if that file is there. Then go to C:\Windows\System32 and check again. Then go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers - this is where it should be. If there is another copy in either of the other locations it is probably malware (especially if there is also a copy in the Drivers folder). Post back and we'll work on resolving that.

At this point I have more questions and verification tasks than answers, but I need ALL of the information requested above (and anything else you think might assist me) to help diagnose the problem and assist you in resolving it. It would be easier if I were there to work on your machine myself, but since that isn't possible I sincerely need your help if I'm to be able to help you. I don't care how long your post is - the more information you provide, the better.

Thanks - and I really do need your help by answering all of these questions - and I realize it may take a little time to do that. I'm not sure, but perhaps one (and I don't know which which is why I need them all answered) will lead me to a potential cause and from there to options to resolve the problem.

Good luck!
