It snowed here today in Redmond. While the team is spending a lot of time indoors working on the final version of Internet Explorer 9, we think it’s time to plan on going somewhere warmer.
Building off the excitement from last week’s IE9 Release Candidate event in San Francisco, we have another event on the horizon for IE9.
As we talked about yesterday, there’s already tremendous momentum for IE9. Last week, we announced that IE9 Beta has had 25 million downloads thus far – and the IE9 RC we released on the 10th has already been downloaded over 2 million times!
So what’s next? We like the sound of Texas in March.
Next up for the IE9 team is a Beauty of the Web party at SXSW. At beta, we introduced the concept of the beauty of the web, the rich immersive next-generation web taking advantage of standards, hardware acceleration and the new IE9 UI.
On Monday, March 14th at SXSW, we’ll be celebrating the developers and designers who are making that beautiful web a reality. If you’re coming to SXSW, join us for free drinks and live music from Yeasayer, the Head and the Heart, and Fences at Austin City Limits Live. It’s a party you won’t want to miss.
The night will kick off with a press event just before the party as well. Bloggers, if you are going to SXSW and want to join the press event, send us an email.
We look forward to celebrating with you in Austin.
Ryan Gavin
Senior Director, Internet Explorer Business and Marketing
