yes, im a pro but this one has me stumped, call of duty 5 suddenly doesnt want to have sound, ive trolled forums trying to find the answer.
Methods ive used:
1.Changing my sampling rate from 24bit 48000mhz down to 44100mhz.
2.Right clicking show disconnected devices and enabling stereo mix.
3.Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game, which i learned that steam doesnt like me, after i deleted, i spent 3 hours downloading the thing again, backup game folders before uninstalling a steam game.
4.Reinstalling my audio drivers, thanks realtek for having dial up servers :p
5.Reverting back to default settings in-game.

I think it maybe something to do with 4oD as I tried to install it and some errors came up, so I promptly uninstalled it and this happened.
(4oD is British channel 4 on demand application)
welcome to try any solutions guys, fire away.

its a steam game mate, steam havent released the patch and i assumed that if i uninstall it, steam would automatically update it, but ive got in contact with steam and they only deal with billing and accounts, nothing to do with them if its a game issue.
since its a steam game, the executable is this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 10090, so I cannot run steam in compatability mode as it comes up with the attachment warning below. I have also system restored since my last post as well before I installed 4oD, so I dont think it's that.

I have the exact same problem mate. Steam started updating it the other day, but I found it strange how there was no new "update news" and no patches had been applied. The only thing that changed is that the sound stopped working .
Well, I seem to have brought sound back by changing sampling rate to 16 bit 44100Hz, but its not an ideal fix.

I hope steam release the patch soon (I heard it contains DLC map pack which I want)
All in all I wish I hadn't got it from steam. I ended up buying it for 42 quid cas i wasnt thinking about the exchange rate and steam was only in dollars at the time. But thats life

I had a hard time getting WAW to run at all on Vista 32 SP1-finally with the 1.2 patch for the game it worked...except sound. I then reinstalled the DX November update and sound card driver (Realtek HD). Now all is well. I think the DX install from the game took out my sound card??

Jus change to 16 bit sampling it works.
thanks for bumping an old thread, but whats the point in switching a high definition audio device to 16bit sound, we are in the 21st century, not the stone age, it does work but not a single game i own has this issue, apart from COD5, which tells me that treyarch need to quickly realise that PC gaming is more demanding than they first thought, patch 1.3 is dedicated to fixing all problems regarding sound, so im waiting for that.
