Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google have finally announced their long-anticipated code of conduct for doing business in China and other countries that have restrictive Internet policies. The set of guidelines, titled the Global Network Inititive (the website goes live tomorrow, October 29), aims to provide Internet companies operating overseas with a set of steps to follow before bowing to requests of foreign law enforcement that might conflict with human rights principles or free speech.
